Elton John, born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, is an English singer, songwriter, pianist, and composer. He was born on March 25, 1947, in Pinner, Middlesex, England. Elton started playing the piano at a young age and won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music at age 11. He began his career in the late 1960s as a songwriter for other artists and collaborated with lyricist Bernie Taupin.
